Vocal Cord Dysfunction

Vocal Cord Dysfunction

Vocal Cord Dysfuntion occurs when there is partial vocal cord closure during part of the breathing cycle (either inhalation or exhalation). The person suffering from Vocal Cord Dysfunction feels as though they cannot breathe properly. This difficulty when breathing often leads to an understandable sense of anxiety, which makes breathing even more difficult. Vocal Cord Dysfunction occurs most often in active adolescents. Vocal Cord Dysfunction can be a scary, frustrating problem. Often, muscle imbalances and posture are the underlying cause for this issue. These are treatable problems that can be resolved with Physical Therapy Treatment. If you have been diagnosed with Vocal Cord Dysfunction, call us to schedule an appointment.
